I received an email from an individual yesterday asking for assistance to find a new job. When I look at the individual’s CV, I highlighted few points:
1) Email Address: The name of the email address used was referring to a sports icon. (I would encourage you to create an email address using your name for professional usage).
2) Poor CV Structure: The sentences were not aligned properly with different font types and sizes being used. (It seems like you wrote the CV many years ago and was just adding up the recent experience into the CV)
3) Zero Projects/Achievements highlighted: In the CV, the you only wrote down the daily activities and responsibilities for each roles. (HR and Hiring Manager are looking more additional information to showcase your technical skills and domain knowledge)
Before this, the individual has applied to more than 30 jobs for the past 2 weeks . I’ve asked the individual to stop applying for jobs, instead focus on improving the CV first.
We all have a chance to make a first impression with our CVs. Let’s prepare first before hitting the apply button, shall we?
